Knitting patterns with clear instructions
Purl Foundry, based in Stoke, Nelson, designs knitting patterns with clean lines, wearable shapes and clear, easy-to-follow instructions. Each design includes video tutorials that guide knitters through any tricky parts.
Katrina Robinson started Purl Foundry to create knitting patterns that feel clear, modern and beautifully finished. She designs garments that look polished and well made, like something someone could have bought in a store. She wants people to ask, “Where did you buy that sweater?” Her patterns fit well, teach useful skills clearly and make the knitting process enjoyable.
Katrina brings experience from the sewing pattern world and a lifelong love of yarn, textiles and thoughtful construction. She founded Purl Foundry from a love of slow, considered making, where the process matters just as much as the finished piece.
Newer knitters can build confidence, while experienced makers can enjoy a smooth, thoughtful project from cast-on to bind-off. yarn.
Beyond patterns, Katrina designs knitting tools and accessories that feel useful, simple and beautiful. A new addition to the product range is local, sustainable alternative to synthetic moth deterrents. These are natural Himalayan Cedar products that keep moths and insects away from precious knits, yarn, and fabric stashes. These are made right here in Aotearoa, with timber sourced for its lasting, beautiful scent.
