Barcodes for Magazines

Barcode Images based on your ISSN number

If you don’t have one already, we recommend getting an ISSN number for your magazine (or periodical publication) – you can get an ISSN number from the NZ National Library.

After you have your ISSN number, please come back to us and purchase the barcode images for your ISSN number below:

Note – these barcode images are used worldwide

  • ISSN Barcode Images

ISSN images for your magazine, newspaper or periodical. Please add to cart, then proceed to checkout. Enter your ISSN number at the checkout page. When we receive your order we will turn your 8 digit ISSN number into a 13 digit EAN-13 barcode number (starting with “977”). We will email the barcode images to you in 5 formats (jpeg, eps, tiff, bmp & pdf). If you want the barcode to have a 2-digit supplement on the end (e.g. “01” or “02”) to represent the issue number, please request this in the “additional information” section when ordering.

How to use your barcode:

ISSN sample EAN barcode for magazine

We will email your barcode images in 5 different formats (eps, pdf, tiff, BMP & jpeg). You can choose which format to use – insert the barcode image into the design for your magazine cover before printing.

When your retailer receives your publication, they will enter the barcode number & product details into their system (this will connect your barcode to your publication). After that, when your barcode is scanned, the product details will appear on the retailer’s checkout screen.

Supplement Digits:

Some magazines have a 2-digit (or 5-digit) supplement number (like in the example below). The supplement digits are used to indicate the issue number. If you want your barcode to have supplement digits, let us know when making your order (enter the supplements you require into the “additional information” section when checking out).
