What is a barcode reseller?

A Barcode reseller is someone who buys barcodes in bulk and then resells the barcodes to their customers on an individual barcode. They have obtained barcodes that are no longer under GS1’s control, and hence, do not have annual fees or membership fees attached to them in any way. This means that reseller barcodes are much cheaper in the long term than other barcode numbers.

When buying barcodes off of a reseller, however, you should make sure that they are legitimate. From time to time, non-legitimate barcodes get sold very cheaply. This gets very expensive later on when the person who bought the barcode has to purchase a legitimate barcode and reprint their product packaging.
