OGM Mission

Ohau Gourmet MushroomsProviding the freshest, highest quality and the most wildly nutritious PLANT-BASED options to EVERYONE.

OGM Ethos

Not mushroom growers, OGM is about delivering joy. OGM’s goal is for people to have an awesome food experience.

OGM Vision

OGM’s goal is to grow and make food that tastes fantastic, is highly nutritious, and has amazing health properties. More importantly, it wants to make this food available to everyone at a reasonable price.

Sustainability

Founded in 2018 by Brent and Jude, after returning to NZ after 30 years overseas, they were looking for a business idea to help them transition away from the madness of the corporate world. To build something sustainable and in sync with our values and those of the planet. OGM values focus on community and local, so they operate exclusively at local farmer’s markets.

There are many reasons why OGM choose mushrooms to grow. One of them is that in addition to being a nutritional wonder food, they are also highly sustainable (low impact) to grow:
  • Environmental impact: Uses minimal water and energy
  • Organic: Require no pesticides or chemicals
  • Small footprint: Require little land use and grow close to our primary markets
  • Recycle Use of growing mediums that would be considered waste products: we use untreated (food grade) pine sawdust and hull from soybeans. Others might use coffee grounds, straw or cardboard.
