LMA Timber

Lma Timber Logo Main

Based in Christchurch, LMA Timber is passionate about sustainability and offers an alternative range of timber products for the construction industry. The company collaborates with some of the most reputable and experienced Australian Hardwood suppliers in Australia, all of whom have received numerous awards for their vision to deliver quality reclaimed and sustainable timber products, including those certified by FSC and PEFC.

Established in 2017, the business originated from inspiration drawn from a Grand Designs episode featuring reclaimed Australian hardwood cladding. A subsequent investigation revealed that the main timber cladding options in New Zealand primarily consisted of high-maintenance softwoods (class 2 – 15 to 40 years naturally durable), such as cedar, larch, and thermally modified products. Hardwood in comparison gives superior performance, durability, low maintenance, and is more sustainable. Today, architects, designers, and builders widely regard it as their number one choice for not only cladding but structural beams, posts, decking, flooring amongst other hardwood products.

In October 2019, LMA Timber partnered with the Caldwell Group, which owns ITM Dyers Road, VIP F&T, VIP Structural Steel, among others. This partnership, leveraging over 40 years of expertise and unrivaled experience, provides LMA Timber with a robust platform that strengthens its market position, allowing it to offer the best possible value and service to its customers. LMA Timber is considered the largest, most cost-effective, and trusted supplier of reclaimed and sustainably sourced Australian hardwoods in New Zealand.

LMA Timber is the only supplier in the region of Australian hardwood with a purpose-built showroom/office and warehouse facility. It also shares a showroom in Auckland with High Performer Building. Clients from all over New Zealand come to view LMA Timber’s extensive timber options.

“Hardwood solutions that don’t cost the earth”.

Australian Hardwood has some of the highest carbon sequestration per m3 of any other timber species. Sequestration is the process of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. Not only are you choosing a more durable, low maintenance product but one that can store a huge amount of carbon. Just one of the many sustainable reasons why hardwood is the better choice.

From its inception, LMA Timber recognized that with 62% of all land waste originating from the construction industry, its hardwood timbers could provide a sustainable solution while ensuring a high-quality product. All of LMA Timber’s offerings, both sustainably sourced (certified) and reclaimed, meet New Zealand industry quality standards and come with both kiln dried and fumigation certificates.

LMA Timber’s mission is to empower and educate its customers on responsible hardwood sourcing, advocating for both sustainability and the use of reclaimed materials.

As industry leaders, LMA Timber is dedicated to providing expert knowledge and unparalleled customer service. They ensure a seamless experience for those who share its values of quality, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

Together, LMA Timber and its partners are conscientiously building a better planet.

Where does the timber come from?

The reclaimed Australian hardwoods is produced by milling old wharf and bridge beams, telephone power poles, and warehousing timbers. The resulting products are unique not only because they are reclaimed but also because they are among the hardest and most durable timbers in the world, suitable for both interior and exterior finishes.

Additionally, the company provides a wide selection of sustainably sourced (new) hardwood options. This timber comes with either FSC or PEFC certification, ensuring environmentally responsible sourcing.
